Angels 10, Yankees 7  (36-25)

Jim Beattie and Andy Messersmith were roughed up as the Yankees fell to the Angels despite scoring seven runs.  Beattie gave up five runs in 6 1/3 innings and he fell to 2-2 while Messersmith gave up five runs in just 2 2/3 innings.

Reggie Jackson was the hitting star.  He went four for four with a triple, a walk and three RBIs.  Jim Spencer hit a solo homer, his seventh long ball of the season.
