Tigers 7, Yankees 1 (38-20)
The Yankees still couldn’t figure out the Tigers regardless of the venue and in this one, the offense was held to just five hits. Tony Kubek went two for three and Yogi Berra drove in the lone run with a solo homer in the fourth inning.
Bob Turley took the loss and he fell to 10-3. He gave up three runs on four hits and four walks with two strikeouts in six innings. Virgil Trucks and Bobby Shantz combined to give up four runs in the seventh inning to complete the blowout.
