Catfish Hunter, Dick Tidrow Hit Hard In Eighth Inning

by @ 1:23 pm. Filed under 1977 Yankees, 1977 Yankees Diary - July

July 27, 1977 at Yankee Stadium
Orioles 6, Yankees 4  (54-45)

The Yankees were cruising along in this one and they took a 2-1 lead into the eighth when the wheels fell off the wagon.  Catfish Hunter gave up two runs and then Dick Tidrow was shelled for three runs all in the eighth inning.  The Yankees scored single runs in the eighth and ninth but it wasn’t enough to complete the come back.

Mickey Rivers went two for five with a run and an RBI.  Roy White drew four walks and scored a run in the loss.
