Catfish Hunter Shuts Down Royals In Yankees Third Straight Win

Yankees 4, Royals 2  (12-9)

The Yankees made it three straight wins behind Catfish Hunter’s first win of the season.  He gave up just two runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts in seven frames.  Sparky Lyle held the Royals scoreless in the final two innings and he picked up his fourth save of the season.

Lou Piniella brought the big bat in the win.  He went two for three with his first homer, two RBIs and two runs while Thurman Munson went two for four with a double, a run and an RBI.
