Yankees 12, Tigers 3  (40-28)

The Yankees piled on the runs as they beat the Tigers for the second straight time.  Chris Chambliss led the way with three hits and four RBIs which included a grand slam.  Roy White had two hits including a three run homer.

Ed Figueroa couldn’t last the requisite five innings so it was Sparkly Lyle who improved to 5-1.  He gave up two hits and a walk in 3 1/3 shutout innings.
