Don Gullett Outdueled By Mark Fidrych In Yankees Fourth Straight Loss

Tigers 2, Yankees 1  (36-30)

The Yankees lost for the fourth straight time in a tough 2-1 loss to the Tigers.  Don Gullett was pretty good but Mark Fidrych was a touch better.  Gullett dropped to 6-3 and he gave up two runs on five hits and two walks with seven strikeouts in eight innings.

The lone Yankees run came in the fourth inning.  Reggie Jackson drove home Thurman Munson on a sac. fly.
