Ed Figueroa Falls Apart In Late Innings In Yankees Loss

White Sox 5, Yankees 3  (72-51)

The Yankees eight game winning streak came to an end as Ed Figueroa had a couple of rough late innings in the Yankees loss in their series opener to the White Sox.  He had shut out the Sox through six but then he gave up two runs in the seventh and two more in the eighth as he fell to 12-9.  Even Sparky Lyle was touched up in that eighth inning and he gave up an insurance while also allowing the inherited go ahead run to score.

The Yankees scored all three of their runs on solo homers. Chris Chambliss, Mickey Rivers and Lou Piniella all went yard and for Chambliss, it was his fourteenth of the season.
