Gil Patterson Is Hit Hard in Loss to Red Sox

Red Sox 5, Yankees 1  (26-21)

The Yankees put only run on the board against the Red Sox and they lost 5-1 despite outhitting their opposition 9-7.  Graig Nettles drove in the only run with a solo homerun and both Chris Chambliss and Willie Randolph had three hits in the game.

Gil Patterson dropped to 1-2 on the season with a tough start.  He gave up five runs on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts in 5 2/3 innings.
