Goose Gossage Wins First Game As Yankee

Yankees 3, Twins 2  (10-9)

Chris Chambliss singled home Reggie Jackson in the top of the ninth inning to break a 2-2 tie to provide the winning run.  It was Chambliss’ second RBI of the day and he finished with a team high three hits.  Reggie Jackson also had a nice day at the plate and he went three for four with a stolen base, two runs and an RBI.

Ron Guidry gave up two unearned runs in 6 1/3 innings in a solid start that resulted in a no decision.  Rich Gossage had his best outing of the season and he improved to 1-3.  He gave up just two hits with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 shutout innings.
