Royals 4, Yankees 3  (16-11)

Graig Nettles homered in his third straight game but it was enough as the Yankees lost to the Royals.  Chris Chambliss finished two for four and he scored a run.

Ed Figueroa threw a solid game but it wasn’t enough as he came within one out of going the distance.  He gave up three runs on six hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings.  Goose Gossage took the loss when he gave up a solo homer to Amos Otis, the only batter he faced in the game.  The loss dropped his record to 2-4 on the season.
