Red Sox 9, Yankees 2  (38-28)

The Yankees dropped their second straight series as they lost the rubber game in their contest with the Red Sox.  Jim Beattie fell to 2-3 and he gave up five runs on five hits and three walks in just two innings.  Dick Tidrow and Catfish Hunter both gave up a pair of runs in relief.

Chris Chambliss was the only Yankee with a pair of hits in the loss.  Jay Johnstone belted his first homer of the season (see when he joined the Yankees).
