Yankees 4, Orioles 3  (8-8)

The Yankees evened up their record at eight wins and eight losses behind a solid start in rookie Jim Beattie’s major league debut.  He gave up just a single run on five hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings.  Sparky Lyle was touched up for two runs in the ninth but he held on to pick up his second save of the season.

Jim Spencer had two hits including a solo homer.  It was his third homerun of the season.  Chris Chambliss singled twice, scored a run, drove in one and stole a base in the win.
