May 26, 1978 at Yankee Stadium
Yankees 4, Blue Jays 3 (26-14)
The Yankees scored four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to come back from two run downs to nab their fifth straight win. The big blast came off of the bat of Jim Spencer and his grand slam accounted for all four Yankees’ runs. Chris Chambliss had two hits and he scored on the seventh inning homer.
Jim Beattie had a solid start but he didn’t get the decision. He gave up two runs (one earned) on six hits and five walks in 6 1/3 innings. Sparky Lyle gave up a solo homer and that was it in 2 2/3 innings and he improved to 3-1 on the season.
