Yankees 3, Red Sox 1 (2-1)
The Yankees took their first series of the season and they did it with some nice pitching. Like Don Larsen in the opener, Johnny Kucks provided the Yankees with some exceptional pitching. Kucks gave up just one run on seven hits and two walks with five strikeouts in the complete game win.
Mickey Mantle belted a solo homer, his first long ball of the season. Elston Howard had a team high three hits with a trio of singles.
