The Yankees won their fifth straight game and it was their tenth win in eleven games.  This time it was Mickey Rivers who got it done from the leadoff spot.  He went three for five with three RBIs and a run.  Willie Randolph also had a nice day at the plate and he went three for four with two runs.

Catfish Hunter improved to 8-7 with the win.  He gave up four runs on six hits and two walks with one strikeout in seven innings.  Sparky Lyle threw two shutout frames to close out the game and he picked up his eighteenth save of the season.
