Reggie Jackson Homers In Yankees Loss

Red Sox 4, Yankees 3  (21-18)

The Yankees were on the short end of the first game of an important series with the Red Sox.  Going into the game, the the Yankees and Red Sox were tied for second, each a half game back of the first place Orioles.  The loss put the Yankees a full game back of the Red Sox and a game and a half back of the Orioles.

Reggie Jackson provided most of the offense for the Yankees.  He went two for four with a solo homerun and a double. 

Ed Figueroa took the loss and he dropped to 5-3 on the season.  He gave up four runs on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts in nine innings.
