April 25, 1977 at Memorial Stadium
Yankees 9, Orioles 6 (8-8)
The Yankees pitching didn’t get the job done but the hitting did and the net result was the Yankees sixth straight win. Reggie Jackson brought a big bat. He went three for four with two double, his second homerun, two RBIs and three runs. Mickey Rivers also did his share. He had three hits and three RBIs. Thurman Munson hit his first homerun and he scored four times.
Don Gullett walked seven batters in 3 2/3 innings and he was gone without getting an official start. Dick Tidrow then pitched great to pick up the win and he went five innings in relief. He gave up only one run on six hits with a strikeout. Sparky Lyle got the final batter out and he picked up save number four.
