April 12, 1978 at County Stadium
Brewers 5, Yankees 3 (1-3)
Rich Gossage’s start as a Yankee continued to be a rough one as he was shelled again to drop to 0-2 in just two relief appearances. He gave up three runs on three hits with three strikeouts in three innings of work. In the meantime, Ken Holtzman had a decent start go to waste. He gave up two runs on four hits and four walks with two strikeouts in five frames.
Jim Spencer and Graig Nettles hit solo shots in the loss. Mickey Rivers was the only Yankee with two hits with his pair of singles.
