Yankees 2, Athletics 0 (33-24)
Ron Guidry improved to 10-0 on the season and he did it with one of his best outings of the year. He held the Athletics to just three hits and two walks and he tied his season high of eleven strikeouts to that point in the season. It was also his first shutout of the season.
The Yankees scored both of their runs on solo homers. Willie Randolph hit his second homer of the season in the third inning while Graig Nettles belted his tenth homer in the fourth.
