Ron Guidry Pitches Yankees to Third Straight Win

Yankees 4, Twins 1  (33-24)

The Yankees got it done and won for the third straight time behind a solid outing by Ron Guidry.  He improved to 4-2 and he gave up one run on seven hits and four walks with eight strikeouts in 8 1/3 innings.  Sparky Lyle got the final two batters out and picked up save number twelve.

Willie Randolph singled twice and he drove in two runs in the win.  Reggie Jackson and Lou Piniella each doubled twice in the game and Jackson scored a run.
