July 29, 1967 at the Oakland Coliseum
Yankees 4, Athletics 0 (56-45)
Ron Guidry fell one out short of throwing a five hit shutout but his pitching performance was impressive none the less. Guidry gave up just five hits and five walks with seven strikeouts and the win pushed his record to 8-5 on the season. Guidry did load the bases up in the ninth but Sparky Lyle came in to put out the first and he got the final out of the game to pick up his sixteenth save of the season.
Willie Randolph went three for five with a double, a triple and two runs. Cliff Johnson and Graig Nettles both belted solo homeruns to help out the cause.
