Thurman Munson Helps Hit Yankees to Win Over Tigers

Yankees 4, Tigers 2  (41-29)

The Yankees pulled off a win in their series finale with the Tigers and it was behind some exceptional hitting by Thurman Munson.  He went three for four with two RBIs while Damasco Garcia went two for four with three runs.

Don Gullett improved to a perfect 3-0.  He gave up two runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts in 7 2/3 innings.  Goose Gossage pitched 1 1/3 shutout innings and he picked up his eleventh save of the season.
