Yankees Demolish Tigers In Series Finale

by @ 4:38 pm. Filed under 1958 Yankees, 1958 Yankees Diary - June, Don Larsen, Elston Howard, Gil McDougald

June 22, 1958 at Briggs Stadium
Yankees 15, Tigers 0  (39-21)

The Yankees got the Tigers monkey off their backs in grand fashion with a 15-0 pasting in which just about everyone was a hitting star.  Gil McDougald went four for six with two doubles, three runs and three RBIs.  Elston Howard also had a nice game and he went two for five with his seventh homerun, three RBIs and two runs.

Don Larsen was just as good on the mound and he improved to 6-1 with a two hit shutout.  He walked three and struck out three in the win.
