Yankees 6, Red Sox 5  (38-31)

The Yankees had a huge come from behind win here against the Red Sox.  With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Roy White belted a two run homer to tie the game and send it into extra frames and then Reggie Jackson singled home Graig Nettles in the bottom of the eleventh to win it.

Catfish Hunter had a rough start by the hitters and Sparky Lyle picked him up.  He gave up five runs on five hits and six walks with five strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings.  Sparky Lyle picked up the win with 2 1/3 shutout innings and he improved to 4-2 on the season.
