Yankees Held to Two Hits In Loss to Orioles

June 1, 1978 at Yankee Stadium
Orioles 1, Yankees 0 (29-18)

The Yankees managed just two hits in a loss that saw a solid outing by Jim Beattie go to waste.  He gave up one unearned run on four hits and six walks with four strikeouts in seven innings.  Goose Gossage kept up the great pitching with two perfect innings to close out the game.

Chris Chambliss and Lou Piniella both singled and that was the extent of the offense.  Jim Spencer reached base twice with a pair of walks.
