Orioles 4, Yankees 3 (20-16)
The Yankees and Orioles scored almost as many runs in extra innings as they did through their regulation nine. The Orioles tied it up 2-2 in the seventh and then scored first in extra innings with a run in the eleventh, but the Yankees answered with a run of their own to keep the game going. The twelth was the Yankees undoing though as they couldn’t answer another run that the Orioles put on the board in the top half of the inning.
Mike Torrez had a nice start that went to waste. He gave up three runs on nine hits and five walks with four strikeouts in ten innings. Sparky Lyle took the loss and he gave up the twelth inning run in his two innings of work.
Graig Nettles was three for five and he scored a run in the loss. In all, the Yankees left 12 men on base so they definitely had their chances.
