Yankees 15, Blue Jays 0 (95-59)
The Yankees tore up the Blue Jays in the first game of their doubleheader. Cliff Johnson led the way with a pair of homers while Reggie Jackson went yard with his 31st of the season and he drove in four runs. Lou Piniella and Dave Kingman also hit homeruns in the beatdown.
Ron Guidry improved to 16-6 with the win. He gave up seven hits and a walk with ten strikeouts in the complete game shutout.

Yankees 2, Blue Jays 0 (96-59)
The Yankees magic number was cut down to five as Ed Figueroa and Sparky Lyle combined for a five hit shutout over the Jays. Figueroa gave up five hits in 7 2/3 shutout innings while Lyle got the final four batters out to earn his 25th save of the season.
Graig Nettles went two for three with an RBI. Thurman Munson also pitched and he went two for four with a run.
