Yankees 8, White Sox 3 (19-12)
The Yankees finished up a two game sweep over the White Sox in a game that saw five Yankees have multihit games. Lou Piniella reached base all five times with two hits and three walks while Thurman Munson went two for four with a walk, two RBIs and three runs. Chris Chambliss singled twice and he had a team high three RBIs.
Ken Holtzman won his first decision of the season in a mediocre start. He gave up three runs on eight hits and three walks with a strikeout in 5 1/3 innings. Goose Gossage was exceptional in relief. He picked up his fourth save and he got out all eleven batters that he faced.
