April 22, 1958 at Yankee Stadium
Yankees 12, Red Sox 7 (7-1)
The Yankees didn’t get the pitching they’d grown accustomed to this early in the season but it didn’t matter because the hitters broke out in a big way. Five different Yankees had two RBIs while four scored at least a pair of runs. Norm Siebern was the hitting star. He had a team high three hits and he homered, drew a walk, drove in two and scored twice. Gil McDougald also went yard in the win.
Tom Sturdivant gave up all seven runs but he still picked up the win. He gave up nineteen baserunners (twelve hits and seven walks) but still managed to pick up the win. Ryne Duren got the final two outs and he picked up his second save of the season.
