Yankees 8, White Sox 6 (28-23)
Yesterday, it was the White Sox who put seven runs on the board in one inning. This time the Yankees did it as they scored seven of their eight runs in the second inning. Thurman Munson singled, drove in two and scored a run while Reggie Jackson doubled twice, scored one and drove in one.
Don Gullett used almost all of those second inning runs and despite having a poor start, he still picked up the win. He gave up five runs (four earned) on five hits and a walk with two strikeouts in six innings and he improved to 4-2. Sparky Lyle threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings and he picked up his tenth save.
