July 1, 1977 at Yankee Stadium
Tigers 5, Yankees 1  (42-34)

The Yankees couldn’t do much against Tigers’ rookie starter Dave Rozema as he held the home team to just a single run on six hits.  Willie Randolph singled home the only run for the Yankees in the sixth inning while Bucky Dent was the lone Yankee with two hits.

Mike Torrez took the loss and he fell to 8-7 on the season.  He gave up five runs on eight hits and two walks with four walks in 4 2/3 innings.
