Yankees Six Game Winning Streak Ends, Fail to Clinch Division

September 29, 1977 at Yankee Stadium
Indians 4, Yankees 1  (99-60)

The Yankees didn’t get any help nor did they help themselves because after a Red Sox win and their loss to the Indians, the Yankees still had not clinched the American League East.  Ed Figueroa fell to 16-11 with the loss although he just gave up the first run in 2 2/3 innings.  Ken Clay threw the final 6 1/3 and he gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts.

Graig Nettles was two for four in the loss.  Reggie Jackson had the only extra base hit with a double and he drove in the lone run for the Yankees.
