Yankees Six Game Winning Streak Ends In Ten Inning Loss to Senators

by @ 3:11 am. Filed under 1958 Yankees, 1958 Yankees Diary - April, Art Ditmar, Elston Howard, Gil McDougald, Johnny Kucks, Ryne Duren

April 23, 1958 at Griffith Stadium
Senators 4, Yankees 3 (7-2)

Art Ditmar gave up an unearned run in the ninth that sent the game into extra innings and then Ryne Duren gave up a run in the tenth as the Yankees lost their first game since their second contest.  It didn’t help that Johnny Kucks had a mediocre start either.  He gave up three runs on seven hits and three walks in six innings of work.

Gil McDougald singled twice and drove in two runs in the loss.  Elston Howard singled, doubled, drove in one run and scored.
