Yankees Split Doubleheader With Blue Jays

September 11, 1977 at Yankee Stadium
Yankees 4, Blue Jays 3  (88-55)

Dick Tidrow pitched the Yankees to a win over the Blue Jays in the first game of their doubleheader.  He gave up just two runs on six hits and one walk with one strikeout in seven innings of work.  Sparky Lyle gave up one run in the final two frames and he picked up save number 23.

Reggie Jackson hit a big two run homer, his 25th of the season.  Roy White went two for three.

Blue Jays 6, Yankees 4  (88-56)
 

The Blue Jays salvaged a split in their doubleheader with the Yankees as Don Gullett was knocked around.  He fell to 11-4 and he gave up five runs on six hits and five walks with six strikeouts in six innings of work.

Cliff Johnson singled and drove in two runs in the loss.  Lou Piniella went two for three with a double, a triple a run and an RBI.
