Yankees 2, Tigers 0 (44-34)
Ron Guidry threw his second shutout of the season as he held the Tigers to six hits. He gave up just two walks and he struck out nine and the win pushed his record to 6-4 on the season.
Reggie Jackson went three for four with a double and a run. Bucky Dent singled twice and Roy White doubled and drove in a run.
July 3, 1977 at Yankee Stadium
Tigers 10, Yankees 6 (44-35)
Dick Tidrow gave up five runs in the final two frames as the Yankees lost their chance at a doubleheader sweep. The loss dropped Tidrow’s record to 6-3 on the season and he finished the game with three homeruns given up in his four innings of work.
Lou Piniella went three for five with two RBIs and a run. Fran Healy went three for three with two doubles, a run and an RBI.
