Yankees Sweep Double Header Over Indians

April 24, 1977 at Cleveland Stadium

Yankees 10, Indians 1 (6-8)

The Yankees won their fourth straight behind an outstanding game by Chris Chambliss at the plate.  Chambliss went three for four with a double, a homerun, six RBIs and a run.  Carlos May also had a solid game.  He singled twice, drove in a run and scored twice.

Gil Patterson was pulled in the third after he loaded the bases.  Dick Tidrow came in and threw a solid game and he was credited with the win.  Ron Guidry pitched the final three frames and while he gave up the one Indians’ run, he picked up his first save.

April 24, 1977 at Cleveland Stadium

Yankees 7, Indians 1 (7-8)

The Yankees won their fifth straight game and with the win, they stood just one win away from evening up their record after that rough start.  Roy White hit his first homerun of the season while Willie Randolph and Graig Nettles both drove in two runs.

Ed Figueroa picked up his first win of the season with a complete game.  He gave up the one run on six hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
