Yankees 2, Rangers 1  (72-50)

The Yankees hot streak continued as they won their eight straight game behind some solid pitching by Ron Guidry and Sparky Lyle and a homerun by Graig Nettles.  Guidry improved to 10-6 and he gave up one run on four hits and four walks with eight strikeouts in seven innings of work.  Sparky Lyle threw two shutout innings to close the game out and he picked up his 20th save of the season.

Graig Nettles homered and drove in both Yankees runs in the win.  Chris Chambliss singled and he scored a run.
